#1111: New Referee Clinic (Online plus One Day)

Referee Grade 8 Referee: Grade 8 Referee Clinic @ TCYSA Soccer Complex, Pasco
(Grade 8 may referee all youth matches)

Start now and up to Friday – 9:00 pm – U.S. Soccer’s On-Line Training
Saturday – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm – classroom
Saturday – 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm – lunch (on your own)
Saturday – 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm – classroom & field
Saturday – 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – review, testing and registration

(must complete all on-line training and attend all sessions to be registered as a USSF Referee and receive a badge)
Pre-registration is required for this clinic

Instructions for Registration and the On-line Portion of Grade 8 Referee Course
For the on-line portions of the USSF Grade 8 Soccer Referee Course, there are two separate on-line actions that must be taken.

1) Register for the clinic on the Washington State (Soccer) Referee Committee (WSRC) internet site. This should only take a few minutes.
2) Complete all the on-line training modules (currently 18 total) on the US Soccer internet site. This may take as long as six hours, based on the familiarity of the candidate with the Law of the Game. Again:

Testing Rules:

Class will conclude by finishing the Grade 8 exam, or optionally the Grade 9 exam. Students under age 14 or failing to earn at least 75% on the first part of the Grade 8 exam (given in the morning) are strongly encouraged to take the Grade 9 exam and register as a Grade 9 referee. The Grade 9 license is sufficient for being a referee on recreational matches through U14 or being an AR on many younger competitive matches.

$65.00.  Upon successful completion, one Check or Cash for $65.00, checks payable to: WSRC (USSF registration fee $50+$15 Clinic Fee).

2. (2) Test Questions 1-56 and Review

1. Notes: 1) Introductions.
   2) Assigning.
   3) ARA pre-clinc paperwork.

   4a) Grade 8 candidates take the first 56 questions on the Grade 8 Entry Test.
   4b) Grade 9 candidates take 50 question Grade 9 Test.
   5) Review the Laws with the highest % of missed questions.

2. (3a) Laws 6,11 Review, Lunch, Laws 5/12 Review

1. Notes: Classroom Review of Law 6 – the Assistant Referee and Law 11 Offside.
   Lunch on your own (12:00 – 12:30 pm).
   Classroom Review of Law 5 – the Referee and Law 12 Fouls & Misconduct.

2. (4) Field Session

1. Notes: Field Session – Five (5) Stations at 20 minutes each:

   (1) Game Administration.
   (2) Refereeing-The-Basic.
   (3) Managing-Kicks.
   (4) Fouls-And-Misconduct.
   (5) Assistant-Referee.

2. (3b) Starts and Restarts Review

1. Notes: Review USSF’s Starts and Restarts presentation.

2. (5) Test Questions 57+, Registration

1. Notes: Finish the test by answering the remaining 44 questions
   If 75% or better, register as a Grade 8 USSF Referee
